Hickory Branch NAACP

Our Mission

The Hickory National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is a branch of the oldest existing civil rights organization in the country. Our mission is to secure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights in order to eliminate race-based discrimination and ensure the health and well-being of all persons.

This branch has been in existence since the late 1960's. As a nonpartisan organization, we strive to increase political literacy, ensure equitable and quality education, and address issues of fair employment and housing. We continue to encourage participation of people of color in most areas of government and community life, and campaign for fair voting rights and greater voter participation.

We are actively fighting to end systemic racism and improve the equity and inclusion of all groups in Hickory, North Carolina, and the United States of America. Our branch currently has over 100 members and over 500 social media followers. We meet monthly on the 2nd Sunday at 3:00 PM . Go here for dates and links to meetings.

Our Task Force are working on a variety of projects to improve the education and quality of life for all residents of Hickory. To see what we are doing and learn how you can become a part of this go here.
