Now Accepting Applications for 2024!
The Hickory Branch NAACP is accepting scholarship applications from local eligible students. This year, we will award three scholarships, each in the amount of $1,000!
Scholarship applications open on March 1st, 2024, and must be submitted by US nail and postmarked by April 19, 2024. Applicants will be notified of decisions after May 10, 2024.
In order to be eligible, students must be graduating this summer from an accredited high school located in Catawba County, North Carolina. Students must also be accepted into a two- or four-year college or university. We encourage any and all eligible high school seniors to apply!
The mission of the NAACP is to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination. We are looking to support and inspire local youth who uphold these ideals. We feel that it is imperative to develop intelligent, compassionate, and informed youth, as they will be the next generation of civil rights and community leaders.

Scholarship packets are available for pickup from most high school guidance offices, Morning Star First Baptist Church, Hartzell Memorial UMC, Patrick Beaver Memorial Library, Hickory Ridgeview Library, and the Ridgeview Recreation Center. Applications can be downloaded from this webpage or requested from hickorynaacp@gmail.com and submitted via US mail. (Applications cannot be submitted on line or hand delivered.)
